1. How do solar screens work?
Solar screens are designed to be installed on the outside of you windows or doors; they absorb and reflect the heat before it reaches your window.
2. What is the difference between solar screens and window tint?
Window tint is installed on the inside of the window; heat has already passed through your window. Solar Screens are installed on the outside of your window, this reduces the amount of heat that actually reaches your glass. Studies have shown that solar screens offer 2 to 3 times more heat blockage then window tint. Some window tint will void the warranty of your windows as well, solar screens don’t.
3. How much light do solar screens block?
There are two types of solar screening fabrics, a 80% heat blockage, and a 90% heat blockage, the 90% is the more popular one. The 80% screening will on average block about 25% of the light coming into your window or door. The 90% screening will block about 50% of the light coming into your window or door. Solar Screens also act as privacy screens, during the day you will feel more secure in your home knowing that people outside can’t see strait into your home.
4. Will solar screens block my view?
Solar Screens will NOT block your view. This is misleading by many window-tinting companies. You can see out of solar screens just the same as looking through tinted glass.
5. Can you add grid work to my solar screens?
Yes we can add custom grid work to match up with what your windows have.
6. What type of warranty do you offer?
Longhorn Solar Screens offers a 5-year warranty that covers workmanship, manufacturing defects in the screen material, and framing. It does not include weather damage, vandalism, pets or homeowner negligence. We will repair or replace any defective workmanship, screen material, or framing to the customers satisfaction. Screens must remain on the original house installed.
